In 2017, sitting in a small dinette in Champaign, Illinois, Dr. Joe Peterson and Dr. John Cole studied a newly funded National Cancer Institute grant and asked themselves a simple but profound question:

“Can we do this?”

At the time, they were working together in a lab at the University of Illinois, developing a novel approach to cancer modeling. They saw a fundamental gap in the way oncology decisions were being made—a gap that could be bridged through biophysical modeling and AI-driven precision medicine. Their vision was clear: to revolutionize cancer care by providing deeper insights into tumor biology through a purely software-based solution.

Shortly after, Tushar Pandey joined the mission, and together, they founded SimBioSys—a company dedicated to redefining precision cancer care with a platform that puts patients, providers, and healthcare systems first.

What started as an idea in a university lab has grown into a rapidly growing company with:
